Hi,

I also would love to know if I can run the
Plone 1.0.5 Windows installer on win 2003. At the moment I can`t start the server.

Error messages in stupid.log:
"file e:\program files\plone\zope\zserver\medusa\asyncore.py line 306, ... error 10013 permission denied.

also the e:\program files\plone\zope\import\examples.zexp can`t be found at this place

regards
Ragnar

Please state what version of plone you are running, this bug is meaningless without it, its not Plone 2.1.3.

If you are having problems open up a command prompt and go to c:\Program Files\Plone and run plone.bat this will give you debugging output.

Sorry I didn't notice You have older versions. Try do that with Python 2.1.3.

Maybe the same as my yesterday trouble. If You installed Zope from windows package,
it is their foult. There are a lot of Python modules missing in this Zope
distribution.

You should install Python 2.3.2 separately, and copy all missing content to Zope.
Then restart. This solution works in my Win 2000 prof.

Log file is unrelated messages.

To run your service as something else go to windows control panel and go to the service control manager, there you can set a service to run as anyone you want.

You service does not have the permission to bind to the ports. Check the user the service is running as.

Please state what version of plone you are running, this bug is meaningless without it, its not Plone 2.1.3.

If you are having problems open up a command prompt and go to c:\Program Files\Plone and run plone.bat this will give you debugging output.

Winsock error 10013 (WSAEACCES) is usually caused by: using a broadcast address for sendto without broadcast permission being set using setsockopt(SO_BROADCAST); trying to create a raw socket (SOCK_RAW) as a non-admin user (see MSKB ID 195445 and also the Platform SDK, for an explanation why the regkey won't work on 2000 and later); or the bind function has been called from another application, service, driver, etc. with exclusive access (SO_EXCLUSIVEADDRUSE).

It looks like it is the last case, here. Please try stopping all web-related services and attempt to start the Plone service again to see if it works. Also, in the second case, make sure you are running the service as the SYSTEM account or Administrator. The first case is highly unlikely, as that would affect a huge number of people running Zope on Windows. (Practically all of them, in fact...)

If neither option works, please post what is logged in the Event Viewer.

Log file is unrelated messages.

To run your service as something else go to windows control panel and go to the service control manager, there you can set a service to run as anyone you want.

I forgot to point out that the specific service conflict is likely IIS, since both Plone and IIS want to listen on port 80 for incoming traffic. If stopping IIS lets Plone start, then you have discovered where your problem lies.

(BTW, can someone correct the Plone version in the info for this issue?)
